Howdy! Quick update...
Favourite song of the moment: Dionne Warwick's "All the Love in the World". No idea why. I heard it at random, acquired an MP3, and have listened to it many, many times since.
It's a lovely, gentle tune. Like tall grass swaying in a summer breeze. This song goes back to 1982. I... was 6 years old. Don't know if I'd ever heard it before this past month, which in itself is amazing. Anyway, it's mellow. Just like me at this moment. Love those BeeGees!
Musically speaking, I think I'll always be an '80s artist at heart. Ok, '70s and '80s. Something about those hooks, flows, and catchy creations that is truly timeless. Evolutions such as iTunes have allowed a whole new generation to discover decades-old, unique or perhaps forgotten music that the mainstream just can't top these days. So much shit music promoted as "hit" music today... Bah.
Let's talk movies...
I had a wee-small role in an independent film produced in Calgary a few years ago. The End recently screened at the Cinquest film festival in California, and has been nominated by the AMPIA for Best Picture, Best Actor (Jeremy Thomas), Best Screenwriter - Drama (Jeremy Thomas), and Best Musical Score (Nova Pon and Christiaan Venter). So that's neat. The awards are held on April 26th.
A short film I had the opportunity to work on is going to be screened at the Okanagan Film Festival shortly as well. "Ripples" is a film directed by Ambrose Aibi Okundaye. If you're taking part in the fest, you can catch this film on April 20th, 1pm at the Mary Irwin Theatre. Short Film Showcase 3.
The short should be broadcast on local CityTV as well, but I've heard nothing about that yet. So I'll let you know if/when that happens.
That's all for now! Lots of musical stuff coming in 2008, so you're invited to listen and expand your library in the coming months. :)
Peace!
